A futuristic vintage painting of an aerial view of an industrial site in the UK, cranes and housing, lots of excitement and movement

We've just pushed a new version of our development appraisals tool, Appraise.

This release focussed on improving some of our energy and infrastructure data, as well as bringing in some new amenities datasets.

New Features

We now show quite a bit more information about the nearest DNO substations, including the voltage and the name the DNO uses to refer to it:

Solar parks are technically substations. Or, well, they NEED substations. So
they're colocated. I learn a new thing every
day.
This site is deep in the countryside, where no electricity can hurt it.

You'll also notice that we show the nearest five, rather than just the nearest; sometimes the closest substation isn't the best one to connect into.

Enhancements

  • We came up with a cleverer way to handle smaller sites, so there are no longer size restrictions on the titles you can select
  • Your contact details will now be persisted in local storage, so you don't have to keep entering them if you create multiple appraisals
  • New dataset: bus stops
  • New dataset: train stations
  • New dataset: GP surgery
  • New dataset: nutrient neutrality catchment areas
